When a high-risk incident unfolds, telecommunicators become far more than a voice on the radio—they become the critical link connecting field personnel, command staff, intelligence, and essential resources.

This e-learning course prepares telecommunicators to support active shooter events, barricaded subjects and hostage situations, manhunts, large-scale emergencies, and other rapidly evolving incidents. Participants will learn how to transition from routine call processing to a proactive, mission-focused tactical role while maintaining precision, discipline, and situational awareness under pressure.

The course examines tactical radio communications, channel control, intelligence coordination, resource tracking, logistical support, and the development of a common operating picture. Participants will also explore the telecommunicator’s role within NIMS and the Incident Command System, the differences between fixed and mobile tactical dispatch operations, and strategies for making sound decisions in high-stress environments.

By the end of the course, participants will better understand how to anticipate operational needs, filter critical information, coordinate multi-agency resources, support responder safety, manage the personal effects of high-stakes incidents, and contribute to after-action reviews.
