Providing Outstanding Customer Service

Providing Outstanding Customer Service

Description

In 911, every interaction matters. Telecommunicators serve as the critical connection between citizens, emergency responders, coworkers, and partnering agencies. The quality of that connection can influence public confidence, responder safety, agency effectiveness, and the overall outcome of a call.

This engaging e-learning course explores the principles of outstanding customer service within the unique and demanding environment of emergency communications. Participants will examine the needs of both internal and external customers while learning how reliability, responsiveness, credibility, empathy, and professionalism shape every interaction.

The course also strengthens active-listening skills and provides practical strategies for communicating with people experiencing fear, anger, trauma, confusion, or crisis. Participants will learn to adapt their communication to different audiences, provide responders with clear and accurate information, remain calm under pressure, and conclude each interaction as positively and professionally as possible—even when the caller does not receive the outcome they expected.
